‘Unfair’ to compare Shubman Gill with Kohli and Sachin, believes former India coach

Comparing Shubman Gill to Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli Unfair: Gary Kirsten

Former India and current Gujarat Titans (GT) coach Gary Kirsten believes that it is too soon to compare Shubman Gill with the greats of Indian cricket, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Kirsten has had the privilege of working with both Tendulkar and Kohli during his stint as India’s coach and even leading the Indian side to their second ODI World Cup Trophy in 2011. Currently, he is guiding Gill at GT, and in an interview with Cricbuzz, he shared his opinion on the young opener’s performance in the IPL, the upcoming World Test Championship Final against Australia, and his future in the Indian squad.

Gill Has the Potential to Become a Great Player for India

When asked if Gill was in the same league as the two other Indian cricket legends, Kirsten replied, “He is a young player who has incredible skill and determination to become one of the best players in the world. It would be unfair to compare him to Sachin and Virat so early in his journey.” The South African coach further added that Gill has all the credentials to become a great player for India, across all the formats.

Conclusion

Shubman Gill is a young, talented cricketer who has the potential to become a great player for India. However, Gary Kirsten believes that it is too soon to compare him to Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. He has the skill and determination to achieve great heights, and with his performances in the IPL and upcoming World Test Championship Final, his future looks bright.
