5 captains, 2 coaches, 6 series, Check India Cricket Team’s road to WTC Final

India’s Road to WTC Final 2023: A Mixed Bag

Cricket is a game of numbers, and no one understands this better than the Indian Cricket Team. As the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle comes to a close, India have had 5 captains, 2 coaches, 6 series, 10 wins, and 5 losses. With Virat Kohli failing to secure the last WTC crown, the hopes now rest on Rohit Sharma to end the ICC trophy drought when they face Australia at the Oval on June 7.

Home and Away Results

This two-year period has been a rollercoaster. India have been undefeated in all series played at home. However, their overseas results have been less impressive, with 1 loss and 1 draw. During their tour of England, India were unable to convert their 2-1 lead into a series win. Similarly, in South Africa, India went from a 1-0 lead to a 1-2 loss.

Change in Coaching Personnel

In between the two series, India saw a change in their coaching personnel. Ravi Shastri made way for Rahul Dravid, while Paras Mhambrey took charge of the bowling after Bharat Arun stepped down.

Conclusion

India’s road to the WTC Final 2023 has been a mixed bag. While they have been successful at home, their overseas results have been less than satisfactory. With the final against Australia looming close, the team will be hoping to turn things around and bring home the trophy.
