Big win for BCCI as SLC, BCB & Afghanistan shoot down PCB’s Asia Cup hybrid model

Asia Cup 2023: BCCI Triumphs as PCB Loses Support

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has achieved a major victory as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lost all its support in the Asia Cup 2023. Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh Cricket, and Afghanistan Cricket have shot down PCB’s proposed Hybrid Model, meaning that if the tournament goes ahead, it will be held at a neutral venue, likely in Sri Lanka.

PCB’s Proposal Rejected

At the start, the PCB chief, Najam Sethi, had received backing from all three boards except for the BCCI. The Hybrid Model would have seen Pakistan hosting four matches, with the remaining matches featuring India and the Final taking place in Sri Lanka or the UAE.

BCCI Refuses to Support Model

Unfortunately for the PCB, their plans were thwarted as the BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, who is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council, refused to approve the model. Consequently, the PCB slowly lost its support.

Conclusion

Should the Asia Cup tournament go ahead, it will be held at a neutral venue, with the BCCI having triumphed in their opposition to the PCB’s proposal.
