Big win for BCCI as SLC, BCB & Afghanistan shoot down PCB’s Asia Cup hybrid model

Asia Cup 2023: BCCI’s Major Win as PCB Loses Support

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has achieved a major win as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lost all support in the Asia Cup 2023. Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh Cricket, and Afghanistan Cricket have rejected PCB’s proposed Hybrid Model, meaning that if the tournament goes ahead, it will be held at a neutral venue, most likely Sri Lanka.

BCCI Refuses to Approve Proposed Model

Initially, PCB chief Najam Sethi had the backing of all three boards, except for BCCI. The proposed model would have seen Pakistan hosting four matches, with the remaining matches featuring India and the final being held in Sri Lanka or the UAE. However, with BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council, refusing to approve the model, PCB eventually lost its support.

Conclusion

If the Asia Cup 2023 tournament is to go ahead, it will be held at a neutral venue. The BCCI’s refusal to approve the proposed model has resulted in a major win for the board, as PCB has lost all support for the tournament.
