Big win for BCCI as SLC, BCB & ACB shoot down PCB’s Asia Cup hybrid model

BCCI Triumphs as PCB Loses Support for Asia Cup 2023

This is a major victory for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lost all support from Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh Cricket and Afghanistan Cricket for their proposed Hybrid Model for the Asia Cup 2023. It is now likely that the tournament will be held at a neutral venue, most likely Sri Lanka.

BCCI Refuses to Approve PCB Model

Initially, PCB chief Najam Sethi had received support from all three boards, except for the BCCI. As part of the proposed model, Pakistan would have hosted four matches, with the rest of the matches involving India and the Final being played in either Sri Lanka or the UAE. However, with BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council, refusing to approve the model, PCB slowly lost support.

Asia Cup to be Held at Neutral Venue

Should the tournament go ahead, it will be held at a neutral venue. Yet, the question still remains as to where the tournament will be held.

Conclusion

In the end, the BCCI’s refusal to approve the PCB’s model for the Asia Cup 2023 has resulted in the PCB losing support from all three boards, Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh Cricket and Afghanistan Cricket. This means that the tournament will now be held at a neutral venue, most likely Sri Lanka.
