USA confident T20 WC 2024 not under threat, banks on MLC 2023 to convince ICC

USA Cricket Dismisses Reports of ICC Taking Away Hosting Rights of T20 World Cup 2024

USA Cricket has denied reports of the International Cricket Council (ICC) considering taking away its hosting rights for the T20 World Cup 2024. The USA are co-hosting the tournament alongside the West Indies, however, the lack of cricket infrastructure in the USA has been called into question. USA Cricket is now relying on Major League Cricket (MLC 2023) to persuade the ICC to keep the hosting rights.

USA Cricket Confident of Retaining Hosting Rights

A USA Cricket administrator spoke to Press Trust of India (PTI), saying, “We have not had any discussions with the ICC in this regard. We are doing our best to prepare the necessary infrastructure for the T20 World Cup, which is only a year away.”

Reports of ICC Mulling Shifting T20 WC Out of West Indies & USA

A News18 report had previously suggested that the ICC was thinking of moving the T20 World Cup out of the West Indies and the USA to England due to the lack of adequate cricket stadiums and infrastructure. However, USA Cricket is hosting its own Major League Cricket, which is hoped to convince the ICC to maintain the hosting rights.

Conclusion

USA Cricket is confident that they will be able to keep the hosting rights for the T20 World Cup 2024 with the help of Major League Cricket. They are working hard to develop the necessary infrastructure for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in a year’s time.
