Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer Inching Closer to Full Fitness

Having missed out on the IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship Final, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are edging nearer to full health. Both of them have gone through surgery for their respective back injuries and are presently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The India vs West Indies series arrives too soon for the two, however, they are anticipated to make a return for the Asia Cup 2023.

NCA Medical Staff Impressed with Recovery Progress

As per ESPNCricinfo, the medical staff at the NCA are pleased with the recovery of Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer. They are confident that the two players will be ready for the start of the Asia Cup on August 31.

Bumrah Out of Action Since Last September

Jasprit Bumrah has not been in action since the home T20Is against Australia last September. He had to go through back surgery in New Zealand in March. As per reports, Bumrah is mostly doing physiotherapy but has recently started with light bowling workloads. His bowling load will be steadily increased.

Iyer’s Bulging Disc

Shreyas Iyer was suffering from a bulging disc in his lower back. He was forced to pull out of the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in March.

Conclusion

Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer have been on the sidelines for quite some time due to their back injuries. However, they are now making good progress in their recovery and the NCA medical staff is confident that they will be ready for the Asia Cup 2023.
