Out-of-form Rohit Sharma likely to be rested for part of West Indies Tour

Rohit Sharma May Take a Break During the West Indies Tour

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, may be granted a rest during the upcoming West Indies tour due to his recent dip in form. The national selectors will make their decision on the team for the tour on June 27, one day prior to the commencement of the Duleep Trophy in Bangalore.

Test Matches and White-Ball Series

The first Test match of the tour will be held in Dominica on July 12, while the second will take place in Trinidad. Rohit is expected to miss out on the Tests and the 8-game white-ball series (3 ODIs and 5 T20Is). The selectors will consult with Rohit before deciding, according to The Times of India.

Rohit Sharma’s Poor Performance in IPL-2023 and WTC Final

Rohit’s performance in the IPL-2023 and the World Test Championship final in England was not up to the mark. In the IPL-2023, he scored just 332 runs in 16 games at an average of 20.75, with two fifty-run innings. He was also dismissed for 15 and 43 in the WTC final at the Oval against Australia.

Conclusion

Rohit Sharma’s current form has been a cause of concern for many. The selectors are likely to grant him a break for a portion of the West Indies tour, so that he can take some time off and regain his form.
