The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reversed its earlier decision and agreed to send both men and women’s teams to the Asian Games 2023. The game will be played in the T20 format. As the main team will be engaged in the 50-over World Cup, which is to be held in India, the men’s team will be a B squad. The top women’s team will be competing at the Asiad.

The Asian Games 2023 will be hosted in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. Cricket has been added to the schedule for the Hangzhou Games, which were originally planned to take place last year but were postponed due to China’s zero-Covid policy. The ICC World Cup will be held from October 5 to November 23.

India Skipping Asian Games in 2010 and 2014

In 2010 and 2014, cricket was played in the Asian Games, however India did not send a team. Before June 30, the BCCI will be sending the Indian Olympic Association the list of players.
