Good news, Kane Williamson likely to make injury return before WC

Kane Williamson: Taking Recovery from Right Knee Injury Week-to-Week

New Zealand’s elite top-order batsman, Kane Williamson, has not given up on playing a part in the upcoming 50 overs World Cup campaign. However, he is taking his recovery from a right knee injury on a week-to-week basis. In early April, Williamson suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while fielding for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Progress Being Made

Williamson has stated that he is making progress, but his overriding priority is ensuring that his knee mends properly before getting back on the pitch for the World Cup in India in October and November. He said on Monday, “Very much just trying to keep it week-to-week at the moment. I haven’t had such a long-term injury before, but talking to other people that have, the journey is a bit of a long one so if you look too far ahead it probably can become a little bit daunting. Whereas, one week at a time, ticking off those small markers, those little achievements, is probably the way to go.”
