Team India set to get new coach post WC, Rahul Dravid unlikely to renew

Rahul Dravid Unlikely to Renew Contract Post World Cup 2023

Irrespective of the result of the World Cup 2023, it appears that head coach Rahul Dravid may be taking a step back. According to close sources, Dravid is feeling the strain of travelling with the Indian cricket team and not having enough time with his family. This was an issue that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and then President Sourav Ganguly managed to convince him out of when he took over from Ravi Shastri in 2021.

BCCI Denies Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has denied these reports, stating that they will hold talks with Rahul Dravid regarding the renewal of his contract either before or after the World Cup. At present, the team’s focus is solely on winning the tournament.

Mixed Results Under Dravid’s Leadership

Since taking over from Ravi Shastri after India’s exit from the 2021 T20 WC, Rahul Dravid’s record has been mixed. The team has been dominant at home, losing only one series to Australia. However, India has suffered defeats to South Africa and New Zealand in away series.

Conclusion

It is uncertain whether Rahul Dravid will renew his contract after the World Cup 2023. While the BCCI denies the reports, it remains to be seen whether Dravid will opt to stay on or take a step back. Until then, the team’s focus is firmly on winning the tournament.
