Shikhar Dhawan Speaks on Omission from Indian Contingent for Asian Games

Senior batter Shikhar Dhawan has recently shared his thoughts on his exclusion from the Indian contingent for the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in September-October. The Southpaw admitted to being taken aback when he saw his name was not included in the squad. Nevertheless, he expressed his joy for young batter Ruturaj Gaikwad, who will lead the Indian side, and wished him success.

“When my name was not there (for Asian Games), I was a bit shocked. But, then, I was like they have a different thought process, you just have to accept it. Happy that Rutu (Gaikwad) will lead the side. All the young boys are there, I am sure they will do well,” said Dhawan.

Dhawan Ready for Comeback

Dhawan also made it known that he is ready to make a comeback should the chance arise. He stated that he keeps himself fit so he is always prepared for any opportunity that may come his way.

“I will be ready, of course (for the comeback). That is why I keep myself fit (so whenever I get a chance I am ready). There is always a chance whether it is one percent or 20 percent. I still enjoy training and I still enjoy the game,” he said.
