BAN vs AFG Test: Rashid Khan to miss one-off Test against Bangladesh

Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai to Miss Test Match Against Bangladesh

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has recently declared that leg spinner and former captain Rashid Khan will not be a part of the upcoming one-off Test match against Bangladesh. Rashid had missed two ODIs on Afghanistan’s tour of Sri Lanka due to an injury, and the ACB has now decided to rest him for the Test in Mirpur, which is set to start on June 14th. The ACB declared Rashid’s absence from the squad on their Twitter handle.

In addition to Rashid, Afghan allrounder Azmatullah Omarzai will also be absent from the Test. He missed the third ODI against Sri Lanka and is now set to stay out of the Test due to a groin injury. The ACB has said that he will be undergoing rehabilitation and will be under full medical observation until his return.

Afghanistan’s Squad for Bangladesh Test

Vice-captain Rahmat Shah is expected to be part of the squad, alongside Abdul Malik and Ibrahim Zadran, in order to bolster the top order. Afsar Zazai and Ikram Alikhil will be the wicketkeeping options for Afghanistan. Javed Ahmadi and Wafadar Mom are also likely to feature in the Test.

Conclusion

The upcoming one-off Test match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be a unique event, as the two sides have never before faced each other in the longest format of the game. Unfortunately, the Afghan side will be missing the services of two of their key players, Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai, due to injury. However, Afghanistan still has an impressive squad that will be looking to make a mark in the match.
