Big win for BCCI as SLC, BCB & ACB shoot down PCB’s Asia Cup hybrid model

Asia Cup 2023 Will Be Played at Neutral Venue After PCB Loses Support

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scored a major victory as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lost all the support from Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh Cricket and Afghanistan Cricket in regards to the proposed Hybrid Model for the Asia Cup 2023. As a result, if the tournament does go ahead, it will be played at a neutral venue, likely in Sri Lanka.

Proposed Model

PCB Chief Najam Sethi had initially received support from all three boards with the exception of BCCI. The proposed model would have seen Pakistan hosting four matches, and the remaining matches involving India, as well as the Final, being played in either Sri Lanka or the UAE.

BCCI Refuses Approval

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who is also the head of Asian Cricket Council, refused to approve the model, resulting in PCB slowly losing support.

Conclusion

It appears that the Asia Cup 2023 will be played at a neutral venue, with the location likely to be Sri Lanka. The PCB had proposed a Hybrid Model, however, with the BCCI refusing to approve it, the PCB has lost all support from the other boards.
