WTC Final 2023: India to Face Biggest Challenge in Test Cricket Mode
Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar recently spoke to Star Sports about the biggest challenge for the Indian players as they take on Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final next week. According to Gavaskar, the biggest challenge for the team will be the shift from the IPL T20 format to Test Cricket mode.
Adapting to New Surroundings and English Conditions
The former India captain said that the players need to quickly adapt to the new surroundings and the English conditions. He added, “The biggest test will be the fact that just about everybody will be coming out of a T20 format, and test cricket is a longer format. So, I think that’s going to be the big challenge.”
Cheteshwar Pujara the Only Player Experienced in Longer Format
Gavaskar further pointed out that the only Indian player who has experience in the longer format in these conditions is Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been playing in the English County Championship. He said, “They have only Cheteshwar Pujara who has been playing in the English County Championship, so he will be the only guy who has played the longer format in these conditions, so that’s going to be the big challenge for them.”
