India vs. Pakistan Match: Travel Expenses on the Rise
As the India vs Pakistan match draws closer, travel costs to the host city of Narendra Modi Stadium are escalating. On the day of the match, flight prices have seen a sharp spike. This follows an exponential rise in hotel costs in the lead up to the 2023 World Cup.
The Delhi-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Ahmedabad sectors have experienced the most significant surge in airfare prices. Currently, a one-way journey from either Delhi or Mumbai to Ahmedabad will cost between 15,000 and 22,000 rupees.
Nishant Pitti, CEO and Co-Founder of EaseMyTrip, noted in the Hindustan Times that the announcement of the match has caused a fivefold increase in hotel rates for one night. Luxury hotels have been charging a whopping 50,000 rupees per night. Furthermore, flight tickets are also skyrocketing.
Even if travelers book three months in advance, airfares are still six times more expensive than usual. A Delhi-Ahmedabad economy class ticket for August or September is usually around 3000 rupees. However, the same ticket a day before the match is now selling for around 15,000 rupees.
