Football Field Layout: All you need to know

As per FIFA standard, Ground size or football field layout should be as per details are given below.

Length & Width of Ground :-

The most popular sport in the world playing on a rectangular ground with a spherical ball. This sport is also known as Soccer. The entire ground is generally in two layouts. One is as per FIFA standard & another one is as per International Match standard. Differences between both standards are given below.

Centre Radius :-

This 1-meter area in each corner of the football ground is known as the center radius. This football area usage for kicking the ball from a corner in the following scenario.

i). Ball is reached out of the ground

ii). Ball is touched by defending team

Penalty Area :-

A rectangular area in the ground which is having Goal area, Goalpost & penalty mark. This area is 16.5m X 40.32m(18 yard X 44 yard) in dimension. It provides the penalty kick in a case the defending team is done some foul in the penalty area. It provides the goalkeeper access to handle the ball with hand but if he touches the ball outside this area, it will be considered a foul & opposite team awarded by a free kick.

Penalty Arc or D circle :-

D shape in the center of the long line of the penalty area. This D shape circle arc is marked 9.15m(10 yards) from the center mark. This circle usage during a penalty to indicate that not a single player will be near to this area except Goalkeeper & penalty taker till that penalty taker player kick the ball.Because as per rule during penalty every player should be 9.15m(10 yards) away from penalty spot & if D arc is not there then this 9.15m(10 yards) rule is over.

Goal Area :-

A 5.5mX 18.32m(6 yards X 20 yards) area inside the Penalty area. One side of width is touching the Ground width line commonly known as “Goal Line”. If the ball is out of the goal line during kicking in this area, then there is the following scenario come out.

i). If the ball last touch by attacking team then the game will be restart by a Goal kick.
ii). If the ball last touch by defending team then the game will be restart by a corner kick.

Goal post :-

An 8-yard area outside the penalty area whose opening touches the goal line.A one and the only way to get increase the score point for their team by sending the ball in this area. All player are trying to convert their kick into a Goal by sending the ball. Obviously, all the game is one & only for victory this area.
