The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has announced that the six teams of the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) have received a massive franchisee fee of 57.80 crores for the upcoming cricketing event, set to take place from the 15th of June. The auction, which was attended by 20 corporates and business houses, saw the icon players of the teams receive an even higher price than in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

MCA President Comments on Record Franchisee Fee

The President of the MCA, Mr. Rohit Pawar, has commented on the impressive franchisee fee, saying that the base price of Rs 1 crore per year for three years was expected to bring in a minimum value of Rs 18 crore for the MPL. However, the teams were auctioned off at a record-breaking fee of Rs 57.80 crore for a period of three years.

Pawar added that the process of buying the ownership was completely transparent, as it was done through an open bid system. The Pune franchisee bagged Ruturaj Gaikwad for an impressive amount, further adding to the record-breaking total.

Conclusion

The Maharashtra Premier League is set to be an exciting event, and the record-breaking franchisee fee indicates that the tournament is set to be a great success. As the teams are finalized and the event draws closer, the MCA and the teams will be looking forward to the lucrative tournament.
