India Cricket Team To Tour Ireland Without Head Coach
The Indian Cricket team led by Jasprit Bumrah will be without a head coach for their upcoming series against Ireland. VVS Laxman, who was supposed to take the role, will not be accompanying the team. Regular head coach Rahul Dravid and his coaching staff will take a break after the India vs West Indies series, before the Asia Cup 2023. The India vs Ireland series is set to begin on August 18.
Support Staff To Accompany Team India
In the past, when the head coach was absent, the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) would fill in the role. Rahul Dravid did this when he was the NCA head, while Ravi Shastri was the head coach.
As per a Cricbuzz report, Sitanshu Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule will be the support staff accompanying Jasprit Bumrah and the rest of the team for the three-match series in Dublin. Both Kotak and Bahutule have previously worked with Laxman on the New Zealand and Ireland tours.
Reason For Laxman’s Absence Unknown
The reason why Laxman will not be joining the team in Ireland is still unknown. As for Rahul Dravid and his coaching staff, they will resume their duties at the NCA on August 24, after a week-long break.
