On Friday, the Indian cricket board announced a 16-man squad for their upcoming tour of the West Indies, where the team is scheduled to play two Test matches. Young players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar were included in the squad for the first time, however, the exclusion of Sarfaraz Khan once again raised eyebrows.

Sarfaraz has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit for a while now. In the 2019/20 season, he scored 928 runs at an average of 154, followed by 982 runs at 122.75 in the following season. In the 2022/23 season, he managed 556 runs, including three centuries. In total, he has played 35 times and scored 3505 runs with an average of 79.65, and 13 centuries.
