India Announces 16-Man Squad for West Indies Tour
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a 16-man squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies on Friday. Young players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar were called up for the first time, while the omission of Sarfaraz Khan yet again did not go down well with Indian cricket fans or the players themselves.
Sarfaraz Khan’s Performance
Sarfaraz Khan has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit for a long time. He scored 928 runs at an average of 154 during the 2019-20 season. In the following season, he smashed 982 runs at 122.75, followed by 556 runs in the 2022/23 season with three centuries. He has played 35 times and achieved 3505 runs at an overall average of 79.65 and 13 centuries.
Sarfaraz Khan’s Response
The day after being snubbed for the third time, Sarfaraz Khan sent a strong message to the BCCI selectors through an Instagram story.
Conclusion
Despite Sarfaraz Khan’s impressive figures, he was not included in the Indian Test team. His omission was not well-received by the cricket fans and players. However, his response to the selectors’ decision has been strong and inspiring.
