The decision will be taken during the BCCI Apex Council Meeting on July 7.

Veteran India Opener Shikhar Dhawan’s World Cup Dream Comes to an End

Veteran India opener Shikhar Dhawan has seen his World Cup dream come to an end. The 37-year-old has fallen down the pecking order, with the team management backing younger players. He is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) building his fitness even as he was omitted from the squad for the West Indies tour.

Dhawan has a near-spotless record in ICC tournaments, however his dream of competing in the World Cup has been cut short.

India B Team to Participate in Asian Games

The India B team is set to participate in the Asian Games with Dhawan leading the side. The men’s competition will coincide with India’s World Cup preparations so a second-string side is expected to take part in the continental event.

Conclusion

The Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China in September-October and India will be sending a second-string team to the event. Shikhar Dhawan, the veteran India opener, will be leading the India B team. Unfortunately, his World Cup dream has come to an end.
